Is there a doctor on the island? Yes at the Health centre (0749520535) and emergency services can be called using 999 out of hours. 4. Is it safe to swim in the beaches? It is safe to swim on several of the beaches depending on the weather and tides- ask a local person where possible before you swim. 5. Is there a place I can camp? There is no official campsite but some landowners might let you camp with their permission. There is a camper van area beside the Culturlann/ holiday village- spaces can be booked through the Comharchumann. 6. Do people speak Irish on Árainn Mhór? Árainn Mhór is a Gaeltacht area and most people speak Irish when you speak to them. Labhair í! Many families and people speak Irish as their primary language.
